FAQ

Answers to our most frequently asked questions

  • The word “transpersonal” means to go “beyond the personal”. Transpersonal Counselling acknowledges the presence of a spiritual component in addition to modern psychology. The spiritual framework is a nonreligious paradigm that takes into account a connection with an energy source that goes beyond ourselves.

  • In general, one of the most important rights a client has involves confidentiality. Counsellors need to consult with other colleagues from time to time in order to gain assistance and insight in providing quality and helpful service. In order to maintain professionalism counsellors, including myself, may be supervised by other counsellors. Regardless of the situation, every effort is made to retain confidentiality of the client. All of the information that we share together is strictly confidential unless one of the following should occur:

    1. The courts subpoena my files, or I am subpoenaed as a witness in court.

    2. If I suspect cases of child abuse that have not been previously reported. This includes physical harm, sexual abuse, sexual exploitation, and emotional harm. In this case, I am required by law to report to the Ministry for Children and Families.

    3. If you threaten to harm yourself or another. In this case I am also required to report this to the proper authorities.

Note: The above mentioned duties override all other claims of confidentiality.

  • When you bring yourself, anything is possible. Typically a primary consultation will enable us to connect and see if we are a right fit for each other. The next session, I would complete a genogram, similar to a family tree, to get to know you and where you are coming from a bit better. You can share your goal for therapy and your struggle. Once we have built some rapport, I may suggest an experiential intervention.
